Question: I'm recently engaged and looking at wedding dresses to see styles I like. I just use Google images and see the most beautiful dresses but for some reason a lot of them made in China, really cheap but you have to mail them to the US, I live in NJ. I not ready to buy yet but if I find a dress online how exactly do I buy it? It isn't a designer dress so there isn't really a store where I can buy it in person. Plus once I get it I know it will have to be tailored.

Should I contact a tailor or a bridal shop and show them what I want, have them measure me, have them order it and have them tailor it or do I buy it myself and ship it to my house and then bring it to a bridal shop or tailor to have it tailored.

You can get dresses for cheaper on eBay, but you have to be careful. This is obviously a knock off, and the most of it you pay on shipping so you aren't protected by eBay for the shipping charges at most they will refund the 12 pounds when the dress comes to you looking nothing like the picture. But the seller does have good ratings so it's a tossup. I wouldn't do it though.

I would not recommend going to a bridal shop and telling them your plans. They work on commission so they will do everything to talk you out of it. Just keep in mind not to pull the measuring tape to tight. Make sure you can breathe comfortably when the measuring tape is around you. It is better to have a dress a little big then too small. A seamstress will have an easier time taking a dress in then trying to make it bigger. I went into angel wedding dress's to try on dresses I knew would be sold at the online store. I tried them on then told them I needed to think about it. I am still waiting to get the dress; it is risky however my wedding is next summer so I have plenty of time. The dress comes in about a month. And it only cost $190 when the original was $1100.
